Brown Shoe is looking for an individual to join our team. You must have leadership experience with strong benefit and compensation experience, excellent communication skills with the ability to handle change. You will be responsible for providing a strategic vision for the benefit programs and developing a plan of execution. You will work with a variety of health and wellness plans multi-state and international along with pension plans.


Skills / Requirements
  • Assures the planning and design of the employee benefit programs including health, life, disability, 401(k), pension and ESPP.
  • Assures the management of external investment managers, trustees, vendors and consultants.
  • Assures compliance with all legal requirements of the employee benefit programs including ERISA, annual non-discrimination testings, audits, SPDs, 5500s PBGC filings and other legal reports
  • Assures the efficient operation of a high volume, human resources administration, benefits processing group

    Position Essential Functions
    • Consults with business unit management to develop strategy for benefit plans that support business needs.
    • Develops relationships with external groups that facilitate the effective use of resources to suppor the strategic and financial objectives of the company.
    • Works with internal and external groups to obtain required data and generate required reports and forms.
    • Reviews current and ongoing legislative requirements for employee benefit programs.
    • Recommends new and/or improved employee benefit plans and cost savings measures.
    • Ensures employee benefit programs remain competitive in the market and support the business strategy.
    • Develop annual medical plan rates and budgeting.
    • Develops annual benefit statements and overall communication strategy of employee benefit programs.
    • Ensures the successful administration of employee benefit programs including pension calculation and 401(k) signoffs, communication strategy and vendor billing and payment.

      Position Specifications

      Educational Preference: Bachelor's degree, CEBS preferred.

      Job Experience:

      • Ability to interface with management to deliver programs that support key business initiatives.
      • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or government regulations.
      • Ability to effectively communicate complex benefit information.

        Computer Experience: Preferred - Excel, Word
