    Responsibilities and Qualifications


    Administers various diagnostic tests as required, (i.e. Electrocardiograms, Holter Monitors, Holter Scanning, EEG, Evoked Potential, etc.), as ordered by the physician. Works under the direction of the Supervisor of Medical Services. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.


    Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

    Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) courses.
    Experience: Possess two (2) years of hospital diagnostic training experience, including experience in EEG, Stress Testing and Holter Monitoring, and documentation of 200 supervised EEG exams.
    Certifications: EKG/EEG.
    Other: Patient empathy is needed as well as excellent communication skills.

    Safety/Risk Management:
    a. Able to determine equipment integrity and take corrective action when needed.
    b. Maintains patient confidentiality.

    Coordination of Services:
    a. Demonstrates a willingness to adjust personal schedule to meet workload.
    b. Assists in scheduling of patients in Medical services as needed.
    c. Insures proper data entry, charging and crediting of patients.
    d. Organizes work schedule according to priority of patient needs, in relation to time and resource limitations.

    Primary Aspects:
    a. Maintains inventory of supplies.
    b. Able to administer various diagnostic tests.
    c. Transports patients.
    d. Provides pre- and post-procedure instructions to patient and family.

    Complex Aspects:
    a. Completes calculations as needed on tests performed.
    b. Reports significant findings during testing and is capable of responding in emergencies.

    Communication Management:
    a. Acts in clerical role if needed.
    b. Explains tests to patients.
    c. Provides reports to physicians and nursing personnel.
    d. Records and reports pertinent patient history essential for interpretation of test.

    a. Demonstrates capability to operate diagnostic testing equipment.
    b. Checks, cleans and maintains all equipment. Alerts supervisor of any malfunctions.
